Open Doors for Paws Founder - Donna Bailey
Donna has always been in love with dogs and animals.
I have been rescuing dogs all my life. I would bring stray dogs home when I was little.
My 1st dog was a stray collie I found . She was with me for 13 years. Her name was Lady. Two years after bringing Lady home I found a cocker spaniel cross, who I named Teddy Tramp.
Donna is originally from Indiana, USA.
She has worked in grooming since 1985.
She worked for a private boarding kennel as head groomer, as well as private contracts with high profile client for 2+ years.
In 1992 she moved to Alice Springs, NT Australia.
Donna opened a grooming salon, boarding kennel (Bonnie’s Bungalow) and nursery in Alice Springs 1997.
She has also done a 24hour grooming marathon to raise money for Make-A-Wish. Nearly $40,000 was raised with grooming auctions and donations.
Donna moved to Brisbane in 2008 and in 2009 opened her grooming salon Tailored Paws which is still running.
Donna found a friend in the legal field to help her realise her dream of starting this charity – Open Doors for Paws.
