Our Vision
Animals may be surrendered, rescued or come into care from other shelters. Open Doors for Paws will then care for them by providing shelter, food, water and medication. The aim is to rehabilitate animals - to prevent and relieve suffering. To do so we utilise qualified professionals and volunteers to provide necessary veterinary, nutritional, grooming and socialisation services.
Our Story
Open Doors for Paws was established by Donna Bailey and is a registered not-for-profit charity.
Our aim is to prevent or relieve the suffering of animals by providing shelter, food and water; to rehabilitate animals, to utilise qualified professionals to provide necessary veterinary, nutritional, grooming and socialisation services and to rehome animals who are mistreated, sick, without homes or abused. In rare cases, animals who cannot be rehabilitated will be cared for through to the end of life. Open Doors For Paws will also foster relationships between other animal welfare charities and government authorities to further these objectives and provide education to the public on responsible animal ownership.
Most animals are able to be rehabilitated and the aim for those is always to rehome. In the case that best efforts fail to rehabilitate an animal fit for rehoming, the last resort is to provide ongoing whole of life care. Finally the relationship building aspect of Open Doors For Paws' activities will be a focus, but will often occur in the course of providing care to the animals and interacting with volunteers and members in that capacity.
